아빠! 어디가?/Dad Where Are We Going?: Jjapaguri/짜파구리!

I’m a few days late in posting these photos, and I’m not going to make excuses, I was just lazy. ∩(︶▽︶)∩
Moving on! For those who are avid fans, or just casual watchers of the show ‘아빠! 어디가?’ (‘Dad! Where are we going?’), should know of Kim Sungju’s infamous ‘짜파구리’ (‘Jjapaguri’) dish which exploded with popularity amongst the kids (Yoonhoo mostly..). So I decided to give it a try and see if it was worth all the fuss.
Basically, it’s a mixture of 2 different types of instant noodles: 짜파게티 and 너구리 (which you should be able to find easily at your nearest Korean grocery store – sometimes even Chinese stores). I suggest sharing with 2 (or 3) people, because no matter how delicious it is, eating 2 packets of instant noodles by yourself is probably not a good idea.
짜파게티 (Jjapaghetti) + 너구리 (Neoguri)
Each comes with it’s own powdered soup/dried vegetable flakes

everything you’ll need (vegetable flakes + little packet of olive oil are optional)
important: remember to put in 2 parts of water (approx 1150mL) otherwise the  noodles won’t cook evenly…
that’s better…
Now that the noodles have finished boiling, you’ve come to the most important part of the whole recipe. The seasoning (or soup)! Too much water will leave you with watery ramen, but not enough will leave you with a lump of noodles and undissolved seasoning.
After a bit of research on Korean blogs, they’ve suggested that it’s best to pour out at least half (or a little bit more) of the water in your saucepan.
And I’m not really a fan of the dried vegetables that come with the noodles, but if you if you want, you can add them in now. (After you pour the water our/before you add the flavouring)
On the show, Kim Sungju actually puts in the olive oil that comes with the 짜파게티 packet too, so if you want you can mix that in too. But personally, I don’t the feel of eating oily things, especially since this is a sauce based dish..
the golden ratio: 1 짜파게티 : 0.5 너구리
into the saucepan and stir/poke at it with chopsticks until event. leave it to boil for about another minute.
and you’re done!

It definitely lived up to the big expectation that I had! Maybe it was because I boiled my noodles for too long, but mine ended up being a lot more.. sticky? than the one Kim Sungju cooked on the show. I’ll definitely give it another whirl though!
